Morning Session: Suturing & Wound Closure

In this interactive course, you'll learn and practice a variety of suturing techniques using high-quality synthetic skin models under guided instruction.


Skills Covered:

  • Wound assessment & closure decision-making

  • Instrument handling & suture material selection

  • Simple interrupted sutures

  • Running (continuous) sutures

  • Vertical & horizontal mattress sutures

  • Use of skin adhesives, steri-strips, and staples

Afternoon Session: Incision & Drainage (I&D)

Master a high-frequency yet often undertrained procedure. This course prepares you to confidently identify, anesthetize, incise, and pack abscesses in a safely and efficiency.

  • Indications & contraindications for I&D

  • Local anesthesia techniques

  • Safe and effective incision techniques

  • Pus drainage and cavity exploration

  • Wound packing and dressing

  • Follow-up care, complications, and antibiotic use

  • Pearls for documenting and billing I&D procedures
